I have never thought of being a single mom, yet I did not plan for it.

Despite all the negative connotations and society’s accusations about divorced women, I took my decision to cross a new path and to change the equation.

Thinking that this path might lead me either to a comfort stage in my life, or it might lead me into the unknown.

Nobody is ever prepared for what it feels like to be divorced. It feels like you are close to losing everything.

The sooner you accept that the marriage is over, the better it will be for your mental peace.

Honestly, I would not have imagined that this stage would make me a strong yet a better woman.

My plan was on how to take back my life after divorce.

“Dear, stop feeling sorry for yourself”.

The global divorce rate is constantly rising with time, and the divorce rate in Lebanon on the rise (increased by 101% for the past 10 years).

What do we learn from this?

You are not alone!

There are hundreds like you out there, fighting the odds to give themselves and their kids a better life. I spent the first months of divorce grieving and venting to my family and friends. But, let’s be real. You can’t depend on them forever.

You will be sad at unexpected times. But, you won’t give up. This step is important if you have a daughter who looks up to you. You should make yourself worth her admiration.

So I realized it was time to stop considering myself a victim because strong women do not make the pain of divorce their identity card.

Financial independence is one of the most important factors required to lead a better life after the divorce.

Stand up, get a job, and follow your passion to increase your earnings.

And when you feel down, try to look at the bright side of things. You can do whatever you want.

There is no one to stop you from living your dreams.
